Suzume Free Pattern

This cute and easy Suzume (Sparrow) is suitable for beginners to practice colour changing. Enjoy!


You will need:

  • Brown, beige, pastel yellow coloured yarn and dark brown (beak & feet)

  • Size 3/0 (2.25mm) or 4/0 (2.5mm) crochet hook

  • 2.5mm black round bead for eyes

  • Cotton stuffing

  • Yarn needle

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)

Abbreviation:

R: Round

MR: Magic ring

sc: single crochet

inc: increase

dec: decrease

ch: Chain

sl st: slip stitch


Pattern:

Work in joined rounds


Body

Start with brown yarn.

R1: MR 6 (6)

R2: inc x 6 (12)

R3: 1 inc 2 inc 1 inc 2 inc 1 inc (17)

R4: sc around (17)


--Change to pastel yellow

R5: sc around (17)

R6: 1 dec 11 dec 1 (15)

R7: 1 inc 11 inc 1 (17)

R8: 1 inc 13 inc 1 (19)


-- Change to beige

R9: 1 inc 14 inc 2 (21)

R10: sc around (21)

R11: 4 dec 9 dec 4 (19)

R12: 4 dec 7 dec 4 (17)

R13: 1 dec 2 dec 1 dec 2 dec 1 dec (12)

R14: dec x 6 (6) Cut thread leaving a long tail to stitch to close round.


Wings

Row 1 : Ch 3

Row 2: inc , 1

Row 3: 1, sl st

Cut thread leaving a long tail to assemble.

Make two of this.


Stitch wings together, eyes and beak and you are done!
